VCL-TP, Teleprotection / Digital Tele Protection Coupler (DTPC) / Digital Protection Signalling Equipment (PSE) is an extremely reliable and rugged, sub-station hardened equipment that is designed to operate very reliably even under the most demanding conditions and harsh environments. The VCL-TP, Teleprotection Equipment provides up to 8, 2-way independent “binary command” channels which can be operated selectively; or in a combination; or simultaneously over a diverse range of communication interfaces.
Substation interface options include:

VCL-TP, Teleprotection IEEE C37.94 Optical Fiber
- 8 Binary Commands over IEEE C37.94 Optical link.
- Offers up to 8 independent Binary Command Input and 8 independent Binary Command Output channels which can be operated selectively; in a combination; or simultaneously over a IEEE C37.94 compliant optical fiber link.
- Command Transfer Time (including relay operating time) is <5ms.
- May be used independently in a point-to-point application between two nodes connected over an optical fiber link
- Also optionally available with 2 x IEEE C37.94 Optical Interfaces for optical link redundancy; or for use in 4+4 point-to-multipoint applications
VCL-TP, Teleprotection over E1, 2.048Mbps (SDH) Link
- 8 Binary Commands over E1, 2.048Mbps link
- Offers up to 8 independent Binary Command Input and 8 independent Binary Command Output channels which can be operated over an E1, 2.048Mbps, G.703 interface option for transmission over E1/SDH links.
- Command Transfer Time (including relay operating time) is <5ms
- May be used independently in a point-to-point application between two nodes connected over E1/SDH links
- Also optionally available with 2 x E1 Interfaces for E1 link redundancy; or for use in 4+4 point-to-multipoint applications

- 1+1 redundant protection switching / route protection is available between E1 interfaces / IEEE C37.94 optical / IP/Ethernet/MPLS with IEC 61850 GOOSE and automatic switchover to redundant link in the event of the failure of the primary link.

VCL-TP Teleprotection IEC 61850 GOOSE over IP / MPLS Interface
- IEC 61850 GOOSE (PSCH1 and PSCH2) over IP/MPLS / MPLS-TP (10/100BaseT RJ45, or 100BaseFX Optical) Ethernet links
- Designed transport IEC-61850 GOOSE* (*Generic Object Oriented Substation Event) messages over an IP/MPLS network.
- 8 Binary Inputs / Outputs and performs GOOSE to Binary / Binary to GOOSE conversion functions, thereby allowing the users to install VCL-TP Teleprotection - IEC-61850 GOOSE over IP/MPLS equipment between sub-stations where one sub-station (protection relay) is using GOOSE messages and the corresponding, complementing sub-station (protection relay) at the other end is using binary commands.
- VCL-TP Teleprotection - IEC-61850 GOOSE over IP/MPLS incorporates the same level of “reliability” and “dependability” that the users have come to expect of the IEEE C37.94 based communication interface. Additionally, the VCL-TP Teleprotection - IEC-61850 GOOSE over IP/MPLS provides un-paralleled security, speed as well as all the advantages of an IEC-61850 GOOSE based system operating in a “Digital Sub-station” environment.
